Pack of 10 October Sowing Flower Seeds grows best when started in Valar’s all-purpose potting mix or any light, fertile, and well-drained growing medium during October and the transition into cooler weather. The pack brings together flowering varieties with different colours, heights, bloom shapes, and growing habits, helping you create a colourful seasonal garden in balconies, terraces, pots, grow bags, flower beds, backyard gardens, raised beds, and open soil.
Sow the seeds in pots, grow bags, nursery trays, seedling trays, flower beds, raised beds, or open soil filled with Valar’s all-purpose potting mix or any light, fertile, and well-drained growing medium. Tiny seeds such as Petunia, Snapdragon, and Salvia should be surface-sown or only very lightly covered, while larger seeds can be covered according to their recommended sowing depth. Keep the medium lightly moist and place it in a bright, well-ventilated location. Most varieties generally begin germinating within 5–21 days, depending on the flower variety and weather conditions.
The first blooms from the Pack of 10 October Sowing Flower Seeds can begin around 45–60 days after sowing with faster-flowering varieties such as Calendula, Cosmos, Marigold, and Zinnia, depending on growing conditions. Poppy may begin flowering around 60–75 days, while Dahlia, Salvia, Petunia, and Snapdragon generally start blooming around 60–100 days. Sweet William may take approximately 90–120 days to flower. Blooming time can vary depending on climate, sunlight, variety, and plant care.
Sowing Depth: Sow according to seed size. Petunia, Snapdragon, and Salvia seeds are very fine and should be surface-sown or covered only with a very thin layer of growing medium. Dahlia, Cosmos, Marigold, Calendula, Sweet William, Poppy, and Zinnia can be sown around 0.25 inch deep.
Best Sowing Place: Seed trays, nursery pots, pots, grow bags, balconies, terraces, flower beds, backyard gardens, raised beds, and open soil.
Sunlight: Provide around 5–6 hours of sunlight daily. Marigold, Cosmos, Dahlia, Calendula, Poppy, Salvia, and Zinnia perform best with bright sunlight. Petunia, Snapdragon, and Sweet William also prefer good light but can tolerate mild partial shade.
Watering: Keep the growing medium lightly and evenly moist during germination. Use gentle watering or misting for tiny seeds such as Petunia, Snapdragon, and Salvia so the seeds are not displaced. Avoid overwatering and waterlogging.
Transplanting: Dahlia, Cosmos, Snapdragon, Marigold, Salvia, Sweet William, and Petunia can be started in seedling trays and transplanted when they develop 3–4 true leaves. Calendula and Poppy generally perform better with minimal root disturbance and can be directly sown where possible. Zinnia can be directly sown or transplanted carefully when young.
Spacing: Keep approximately 6–8 inches between Petunia, Calendula, and Sweet William; 8–12 inches between Marigold, Salvia, Snapdragon, Cosmos, and Zinnia; and around 12–18 inches for Dahlia.
Care Tip: During October, provide good airflow, sunlight, and drainage. Avoid keeping the growing medium constantly wet. Thin crowded seedlings early and remove faded flowers regularly once blooming begins to encourage continued flowering.
