Beetroot seeds grow best when sown in Valar’s all-purpose potting mix or a home-made, well-drained soil blend.

Sow seeds directly in grow bags or nursery pots filled with cocopeat and compost; keep lightly moist in a ventilated spot and they usually sprout within a week.

The first harvest of beetroot begins around 50–60 days after sowing, while the plants reach full maturity by 70–90 days and can keep producing tender greens if harvested selectively.

Sowing Depth: 0.5 inch (1 cm) into well-drained compost-rich soil

Germination Time: 5–8 days in moist, cool-to-moderate temperatures (10–21 °C); may take up to 14 days in cool conditions

Thinning/Spacing: Thin seedlings when they have 2–4 true leaves to about 4–6 inches (10–15 cm) apart for root development

Sunlight: At least 6 hours of sunlight daily; full sun preferred

Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged; 1 inch water per week recommended

Fertilizer: Enrich soil before sowing with compost or well-rotted manure; light feeding during growth if needed (avoid excess nitrogen)

Pests/Diseases: Watch for leaf miners, birds, and slugs; use mesh cover or remove affected leaves promptly.

First Harvest: Baby beets ready in 50–60 days when roots are about golf-ball size (~1–2 inches in diameter)

Full Maturity: Roots reach full size in 60–90 days.
